The bison has outlasted ice ages, blizzards, and near extinction and it's still standing. Built to push through snow, shrug off the cold, and face the storm instead of running from it. That instinct isn't just where our name comes from it's the standard every piece of Bison Western gear is built to.
We build that same instinct into our gear: made to protect, endure, and stand firm when everything else backs down.
From the leather jacket that holds up through a January chore run, to the beekeeping suit that lets you work a hive without fear, to the saddle built for mile after mile, to the FR coveralls that bring a tradesperson home safe every product we make carries that same promise. Because out there, failure isn't an option and neither is gear that can't keep up. That's the standard Bison Western is built on, every single time.
Bison Western exists so the people who protect our farms, guard our hives, ride our trails, and push their limits never have to choose between doing what they love and being protected while they do it.
Honoring the Land We Call Home
Bison Western is built in Calgary, Alberta land within Treaty 7 territory, traditional home to the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani), the Tsuut'ina Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley), and home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
Bison Western takes its name from an animal that has walked this land for thousands of years long before fences, before roads, before any of us. For countless generations, the bison was central to the lives, culture, and survival of Indigenous peoples across the plains of North America, who understood the land, and their responsibility to it, in ways we continue to learn from.
We build our brand with deep respect for that history and for the Indigenous peoples of this land, whose knowledge, resilience, and connection to it came long before ours. Our name is a tribute to that legacy rooted in land that carries stories far older than our own.
